It's a nuisance.
Got inWelcome.
Got inWhen I asked by phone, they told me, "That's fine! But if other customers point it out, we'll have to ask you to leave," so I gave it a try. It was totally fine. It was a nice place.
Hmm…I was surprised to see a distinguished gentleman covered head to toe in kurikara monmon (traditional tattoos) bathing there, but I guess that's how it is. Thanks for everything all this time.
Got inTattoos became OK starting July 1, 2022!
Hmm…Tattoos: no entry.

I hate it. They show off their tattoos and talk loudly. It makes me feel sick.
Nice.
I checked by phone in advance and at the front desk on the day, and was able to bathe. Public day-use onsen in Shizuoka Prefecture vary in how they handle it, but many of them let you bathe.
It's an onsen facility that people with disabilities can use too. The water is slippery and really nice! Please give it a try at least once.
You can get in! I'm so grateful! If you have tattoos and bad manners, people end up seeing all of us that way, so I keep a low profile when I bathe (lol).
I'd rather they didn't, if possible.
There are quite a few sketchy people there even without tattoos.
Obviously yakuza-looking people are coming and going. Tattoos and yakuza are separate issues. I demand that something be done.
I found out here that it's become OK, so I went. It was a Saturday, so it was crowded, but apparently you could see people with tattoos here and there. My husband had been holding back until now, but he got in without worrying at all and seemed really satisfied. The food was delicious too, and I spent way too much money!
I saw someone with tattoos in the bath, so I asked the facility to do something about it, but they said, "That would be discrimination, so we won't take action." I think discrimination is about consideration for people who are in a situation they can't help, plus guaranteeing freedom within the bounds of common sense. Doesn't that not apply in the case of tattoos?
