This place has always let people in, even with full-body traditional Japanese tattoos. Some places in Wakayama, Shirahama and so on have gotten fussy lately, but the long-established places have always treated everyone with hospitality, then and now, as long as you don't do anything crude. Hotel Urashima is a really good hotel.

There are four onsen, and I got into all of them normally! The best onsen!
There's a sign at the onsen entrance refusing tattoos. I think this is a matter of manners. I put on foundation tape in the changing room before going in. There were also people going in without covering up. Someone complained about tattoos in a review, so maybe that had an effect too.
