Got inTheir site clearly states it. That's rare. -- People with traditional tattoos or fashion tattoos are welcome to use the facility. At Yamato no Yu, we do not specifically refuse entry to people with tattoos. In the past, there was a negative image of people with tattoos. Recently, however, as fashion tattoos have become popular especially among young people, it seems we are no longer in an era where tattoos themselves are seen as a problem. Also, nowadays there are people with tattoos who do good, honest work and contribute to society, and there are plenty of people without tattoos who do bad things. At Yamato no Yu, we do not judge people by their appearance. We believe that at least striving to do so is what an onsen open to the new generation should be.

The facility officially posts that tattoos are allowed! And actually, I get to see lots of great work there, so it's fun every time.
I've used it many times. No problem.
It's been fine ever since they opened. I've been going since then, but lately, because of social media, there are more and more people with no manners who bring their phones all the way into the bathing area, take photos of their tattooed bodies and the onsen, and post them on Instagram and such. It's disappointing. Bathing with tattoos is OK, but taking photos is prohibited. Isn't it because of a few people with no common sense that we'll keep being looked at with prejudice forever? Because of people who can't follow the rules, the owner of Yamato no Yu might even ban tattoos in the future. It's a rare and absolutely great bathhouse. Let's follow the manners when we go!

A model for all public baths. In an interview with a certain magazine, about customers bathing with tattoos, they answered: "At Yamato no Yu, we don't judge people by how they look. We think working toward that is what a new kind of onsen should be." The other health spas should follow their example...
