  1. Got in

It's a little under a 10-minute walk from the JR Shinjuku Station East Exit. You can go underground to near the hotel (about a 1-minute walk), so it's easy to use. You take the building's elevator up to the front desk floor, leave your shoes in a locker, and then check in. After checking in, you change into the loungewear in the shared locker space, but the downside is that it's a bit cramped. You have to be pretty mindful of the people around you. Once you've changed, you spend your time in the main bath, the capsule room, or the free space. The free space was renovated about 5 years ago but it's still clean, and I stay there except when I'm sleeping. There are all kinds of people: relaxing in front of the big TV, chatting, studying. There's a spot serving set meals and plenty of vending machines, so food and drink are no problem. There are only a token few magazines and newspapers, so assume there are no books. The capsule rooms and the main bath are clean and have everything you need. They seem to keep improving the toilets too, because every so often I notice they've gotten cleaner or changed. The one big drawback is that the only way to move between floors is the elevator, and it's really slow. Waiting over a minute is normal. If you can put up with waiting for the elevator, I think it's a really good place to stay.

  3. Got in

I was told on the phone that a small tattoo or one small enough to cover is OK!
