It was just a small tattoo, but I got thrown out.
There's a staff member at the entrance keeping a sharp eye out, like a guard. They told me it's OK if you put on foundation tape!
They gave me a serious warning and kicked me out.
The government has notified onsen facilities that they must not refuse bathing just because someone has tattoos. The Cabinet has also officially decided that refusing bathing just because someone has tattoos is inappropriate.
I was told by the staff to leave the onsen because of my tattoos.
I couldn't get in. A staff member was standing at the bath entrance like a guard, and I got turned away when I was already completely naked.
I got into both the pool and the onsen.
